Bakery Dana

We search for a face that is suitable for a bakery that aspires to be a giving presence.
Bakery Dāna is a bakery that opened in Kyoto in 2025. Dāna is a Pali word meaning "donation" and the owner of the bakery opened his own bakery with the desire to give what he has to people, just as the name suggests. With the new store opening, a friendly logo that reflected that philosophy was required.

Solution
Creating a universal "form of giving" that makes you want to go there every day.
When designing the logo, we first interviewed the owner about the environment in which the store is located and the background of why he decided to become independent. Because the area is mostly residential, we wanted a familiarity that would become a part of everyday life, and a uniqueness that would express the nature of the store. We designed a logotype with a distinctive "D" that is simple yet tries to show off a part of it. The bulge overlaps with the process of baking bread.
