Issue

Commonly taken medications are often forgotten or taken incorrectly.

Dienogest is a treatment that is effective in alleviating symptoms of endometriosis and adenomyosis, such as endometrial hyperplasia and menstrual pain. Patients who are prescribed the drug must take it every 12 hours for a long period of time, but many people forget when they have taken their pills, and are forced to use ingenuity such as a dedicated app or a pill case with the date printed on it. Alarm notifications are also not very effective depending on your lifestyle, and many people who are unaware of the existence of apps and dedicated tools will feel stressed both physically and mentally when they forget to take their pills.

Solution

Visualize each user's customer journey and propose improvements to the package.

In order to improve usability when taking medication, ekō first visualized the customer journey of a model user. After that, we created a plan for the packaging that would be easy to see in each person's lifestyle. The key points are: 1) to prevent forgetting to take the medication, a hook hole is installed so that it can be stored in an environment where it is easily visible to the patient and their family, and 2) to design a sheet with the date and morning and evening marks printed on it to check the timing of taking the medication. If the prescription is received midway through the month, the sheet with the dates before the start date can be torn off from the sheet with the start date of taking the medication, allowing users to start taking the medication without confusion.
